Our first original feature-length documentary, My Beautiful Broken Brain, has been honoured at the 38th annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards.

A finalist in the Outstanding Science and Technology Documentary category, the Emmy® nomination is the latest in a run of awards for My Beautiful Broken Brain, which picked up Best Film at the IFDA and Ahvaz film festivals, alongside the Golden Reel for sound design and composition.

By pushing the boundaries of documentary filmmaking, our Netflix Original shows Lotje Sodderland’s recovery from a life-changing stroke. In the process, My Beautiful Broken Brain demonstrates how the true power of the human spirit reveals itself to us when we least expect it. Directed by Sophie Robinson - our Head of Documentary - and the film’s protagonist Lotje, the documentary was executive produced by Michael Houldey and the legendary David Lynch.

My Beautiful Broken Brain is available now on Netflix in 26 countries.

“We are thrilled that Sophie and Lotje have been recognised for their beautiful and important work. At Sunshine we believe in the power of story and stories don't come more powerful than this.”
